Skilled Workers: Experience Factor

 

An applicant must meet the following minimum work experience requirements that allow them to apply as a Skilled Worker:

  • Applicant must have at least one year of full-time work experience. Applicant must have been paid for this work.
  • The work experience must be in the category of Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC).
  • Applicant must have had this experience within the last 10 years.
  • Applicant's experience must not be in a restricted occupation(s).

Applicant do not meet the minimum requirements if:

  • none of their work experience is listed in the NOC list;
  • their experience did not occur in the 10 years before they applied; or
  • their only work experience is in a restricted occupation.

If an Applicant does not meet the minimum work experience requirements, their application as a Skilled Worker will be refused.

Applicant will be awarded points only for a maximum of 4 years of experience that they have obtained in the last 10 years preceding their application.
