Nova Scotia Business Program: Entrepreneurs

To be considered an Entrepreneur Immigrant under the Nova Scotia program, a foreign national must

  • state his intention to settle in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • have owned (wholly or in partnership) and operated a business or,
  • have two years of management experience in the 5 years preceding the application
  • have legally accumulated a minimum net worth of CND$300,000.00
  • make a one-time, non-refundable economic contribution of CND$128,800.00

  • be not younger than 25 years, and no more than 60 years of age.
The contributed amount will be held in trust and returned, without deduction or interest, if the applicant is refused a Canadian residence visa.

Upon confirmation of the issuance of a Nominee Certificate by the Nova Scotia Government, the applicant must file an immigration application at a designated Canadian Visa Office in order to secure his or her medical and security clearances.

Upon visa issuance and landing in Canada, the nominee will be able to select from a list of companies approved by the Province of Nova Scotia and must be engaged in a six month middle management employment contract with a salary of $20,000. The Province of Nova Scotia believes that this initial employment will greatly assist nominees in establishing themselves in Nova Scotia.

Processing times under the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur program are significantly faster than through other Canadian immigration programs. Interview can be scheduled within 30 days after the completed application has been received by the provincial authorities. The whole process can take only six to nine months.

The visas issued under the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur program are unconditional and non-restricted.
