To protect the Canadian labor market and to make sure that Canada does not have too many people with the same skills, Citizenship and Immigration Canada together with Human Resources Development Canada have developed the List of Restricted Occupations.

If applicant's occupation is on the List, they cannot use the experience in such an occupation:

• to meet the minimum work experience requirement; or
• to earn points under the Experience Factor.

If applicant submits application for immigration to Canada under the Skilled Worker program with the experience in a restricted occupation, the application will be refused.

There are no restricted occupations at this time.
